This Privacy Policy explains how VideoBlur (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) handles information when you use the VideoBlur mobile application and this website.
1. Our privacy-first approach
VideoBlur processes photos and videos on your device. Your source media is not uploaded to our servers or to any third-party AI service for face detection, redaction, blurring, mosaic editing, or export.
2. On-device AI and face data
When you choose to scan a photo or video, the app processes the image pixels and, where present, face data solely on your device to locate faces and place a privacy mask. The app uses Apple Vision and a bundled MediaPipe face-detection model that are included in the app. These components run locally; they are not cloud AI services and do not transmit media, face images, face templates, face embeddings, biometric identifiers, detection results, or face geometry to us or to any third party.
Face data is not used for identity verification, recognition of a particular person, authentication, advertising, profiling, analytics, training, or any purpose other than placing the mask requested by you. Face detection rectangles, temporary frame data, and any in-memory tracking data exist only while the scan or edit is active and are discarded when processing ends or the app is closed. They are not retained on our servers because we do not receive them.
We do not collect, store, sell, rent, disclose, or share face data with third parties. There is no third-party AI service involved in face detection. Since no face data leaves the device, no additional consent prompt for third-party AI sharing is applicable.
3. Information we process
Media you choose
When you select a photo or video, the app accesses it only to provide the editing features you request. The media remains under your control and is not sent to us for processing. The app requests Photos access so you can import media and, if you choose, save a protected result. The app does not alter your original media.
Local history and exports
If you choose to keep a processed image in the app’s History, the processed image and minimal metadata (creation date and number of masked regions) are stored locally in the app’s private Application Support storage. The app retains up to 50 local history images until you delete the app’s data or remove the app. Source media, face detection rectangles, face templates, face embeddings, and biometric identifiers are not stored in History. Videos created during editing are stored temporarily on device for preview or export and may be removed by the app or the operating system; they are not uploaded to us.
Purchase information
In-app purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. RevenueCat may process subscription entitlement and purchase-status information needed to unlock features. It does not receive your photos, videos, face data, or editing results. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Website information
This website may receive basic technical information from your browser or hosting provider, such as an IP address, request time, and browser type, for security and reliable delivery. We do not use this site to identify you personally.
4. Sharing and exports
If you use the Share or Save features, the destination you choose receives the file you explicitly share or save. Review the destination and content before sharing. We cannot control how a third-party service handles a file after you send it.
5. Data retention and deletion
Because editing is performed locally, we do not possess your source media, face data, or protected exports. You can delete local History items from the app where available, delete exported files from Photos or Files, revoke Photos permission in device settings, or delete the app and its data to remove locally stored history and temporary app files.
6. Children’s privacy
VideoBlur is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date above shows when the latest version became effective.
